Pastor
Reverend Curtis Garland
Pastor Garland attended Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri,
receiving his Master of Divinity in 2009. His vicarage was at
Trinity Lutheran in Troy, Missouri, with his ordination on July 5,
2009. He served as Pastor of First Lutheran Church in Wall, South
Dakota and also Emmanuel in Creighton, South Dakota until July 3,
2016. Pastor Garland was then called to serve the people of East Ida
Immanuel Lutheran Church, with installation on July 10, 2016.
During his pre-seminary years, Pastor Garland received his Bachelor
of Science degree in 1982 from the United States Naval Academy and
his Aviation Safety Degree in 1995 from Naval Postgraduate School.
He retired from the Navy after 24 years as a U.S. Naval Officer.
Pastor Garland was born on February 17, 1960 in Great Lakes,
Illinois. He enjoys the outdoors, sports, hunting, fishing,
woodworking, motorcycle riding, and auto restoration. On April 16,
1983, he married Lu Ann (Wickboldt) Garland. The Lord has blessed
their life together with three children: their sons, Royce and
Kevin, live and work in the St. Louis area; daughter, Analise, lives
and works in Colorado. Pastor and Lu Ann have four grandchildren.

Laurel Seegert serves as secretary and plays piano and organ for our worship services. Laurel is married to Andy Seegert and they have been blessed with five sons and a daughter.

Choir Director
Brenda Palmiter has directed Immanuel's church choir with energy
and devotion for over 30 years. She participates in Ladies Aid
activities, and recently has taken on the responsibility of leading
the Handbell choir as well.
She enjoys camping with her husband, John, and spending time with
her children and grandchildren. Brenda, a talented quilter, has
recently opened her own business: Busy B's Creations.
"But I have trusted in Your mercy; my heart shall rejoice in Your
salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because He has dealt bountifully
with me." Psalm 13:5-6
